Snooty Pooch Boutique is an advocate for pets.

Hello! My name is Lisa and I am the proud owner of Snooty Pooch Boutique, pictured here with my 2 rescued dogs, Samson (left) and Cookie (right). Samson is a long-haired Applehead Chihuahua and Cookie is a Deerhead Chihuahua.

I have been active in the rescue of homeless pets for many years, beginning with the local rescue organization of the small city where I lived at that time. There I quickly learned about the great need for rescue groups to help the furry-faced innocent victims of abuse and neglect. Needless to say, I shed a lot of tears and never got used to seeing what I had seen during those years, but I also learned the true meaning of the term "warm fuzzies" because I got a lot of those too.

I began fostering in my home, dogs inside and kitties in the enclosed patio. My own dog and cat, who never cared for their own kind, knew that these others needed TLC and would immediately greet them with a tail wag or a purr and a rub as if to say, "It will be alright now. My Mom will take good care of you."

When you foster and bottle feed tiny kittens and puppies that would have otherwise died, you can't help but get attached and want to make sure they will be taken care of and try to prevent any more animals from coming into harm. So, slowly but surely I became more and more active. I became involved in everything from taking the pets to the vet to fighting City Hall. Before I knew it, I was Head of Health and Welfare and Vice-President for this group whose goal was to have a shelter to put all the needy animals of this tiny city. Yes, even tiny cities have big pet problems.

Sadly, I had to relinquish my duties for personal reasons - but the shelter eventually did realize its dream - a beautiful building to remodel and turn into a shelter. Later on down the road, the shelter had to close - a very sad event for those who worked so very hard -and especially sad for those furry faces of that city that will be in need.

I am currently a very proud member of The Public Animal Welfare Society - PAWS Ohio - a very large group for all the pets of NE Ohio. They have been active since 1976. Although time does not permit me to be as active as I would like, perhaps later on down the road I can be of more assistance. For now, I have dedicated my store to their great works and donate a percentage of the profits to them.

Snooty Pooch Boutique is a NE Ohio business dedicated to helping the animals that suffer so greatly in our state.

Not only are we a member of PAWS Ohio and give our support, but we attended and support the Ohio Alliance for Animal Cruelty Reform with Dick Goddard, PAWS, many other rescue groups totally over 100 people on the bitter cold morning of April 1st, 2013.

A percentage of proceeds will go directly to PAWS Ohio. I hope to do so much more as the business grows.
